A Little Bit About Alena and Training2XL…

I am a strength and conditioning coach, entrepreneur and healthy lifestyle blogger. I grew up as an athlete all my life so once I found the strength & conditioning world I knew it was a right fit for me.

Training2XL is my little labour of love. I learned a lot of important life lessons through sport including the importance of physical activity, taking care of my body, setting goals and following a passion – all very valuable things in life. I created Training2XL as an outlet to share my passion for coaching, training, nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle. I refer to everyone as an athlete! Athletes in sport are those still participating in organized sports and an athlete in life are those who are trying to live their best life. It’s my goal to impact others to take control of their health with sound movement, whole food nutrition and creating sustainable healthy lifestyle changes.

Favourite Thing About Being an Entrepreneur…

Getting to create my life. You often hear the saying that nowadays “we live to work” not “work to live”. Well let me tell you, I want to LIVE. I want to love what I’m doing so much that it doesn’t feel like work, and honestly Training2XL does not feel like work to me because I create every aspect and component to it. I am a very structured and organized person, but I see so much value in me being the one to create that structure and not be on someone else’s watch. I like to refer to it as controlled freedom. I am free to choose, build and create my schedule but obviously make time for obligations and work.

Challenges of Being a Millennial Entrepreneur…

Information overload. There is so much information out there on what to do and how to do it, but it’s not all the best advice … being able to sift through the good, the bad and the ugly and looking at things from a critical eye is crucial.

Advice to Other Millennials Looking to Attain Greatness in the Fitness Industry…

Be true to yourself. If you don’t feel comfortable posting 100 pictures of yourself half-naked, DON’T. If you want to show your weird, quirky side, DO IT. There are a lot of similarities between people in the fitness industry but no one can replicate you. You’re a unique hybrid of knowledge, experiences, core values, likes, dislikes, etc. Just stay true to who you are and bring your own spin on things. Also, real-time, face-to-face connections will always trump Internet engagement.

Cool Things Coming Up for Training2XL…

I’ve got a couple cool projects coming up – some eBooks, group training programs and some potential events that I’ve been creating so lots of goals and good things to come!
